Sasha Soloveychik

Expand ProfileSasha is an innovative, passionate and considered leader in the property and land development sector. Commencing his career as a mortgage broker, Sasha rapidly advanced through the realms of commerce and finance.
Within an eleven-year period, Sasha has developed over 350 properties in Victoria and has overseen development projects with a gross value of $200 million.
A new breed of land developer and market disruptor, Sasha believes in earning the trust and confidence of his investors by delivering strong outcomes and results.
He attributes the rapid growth of Solovey’s investor portfolio to his leadership ethos, industry experience and strong talent capability of his team.
Since 2015, Solovey has increased funds held in its investor portfolio by 700%.
Solovey continues to grow its Funds under Management.
Larisa Soloveychik
Chief Operations Officer
Expand ProfileLarisa has been an active property investor since the early 1980s. Establishing her foothold in the Australian property market, Larisa commenced her property investment initially through what can be described as a ‘buy and hold’ strategy. Over time, Larisa progressively expanded her investment portfolio to property upgrades, improvements and renovations, then to several development projects in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Larisa’s passion for property and banking finance enabled her to further develop her capabilities and knowledge as a leading property finance expert. This ensured that Larisa could proactively and effectively organise financial controls and arrangements to drive the achievement of Solovey’s development projects around Victoria to the present day. More recently, Larisa has spent considerable time, effort and energy on Solovey’s construction and project management activities. This has ensured that Larisa can provide best-practice knowledge and expertise to serve Solovey’s investors in the best way possible.
Stuart Weir
General Counsel
Expand ProfileStuart has over 30 years of experience acting as a legal adviser to developers, investors, borrowers, lenders, underwriters, and arrangers in property investment and construction projects, project finance matters, structured finance, and debt capital markets transactions, including PPPs, acquisition finance, and leveraged buyouts in domestic and cross-border transactions.
Stuart commenced practice with top-tier firm Simpson Grierson in New Zealand, spent four years as a senior finance lawyer in London with Slaughter and May and separately White & Case, and then relocated to Melbourne, where he worked with leading Australian firms Allens and Maddocks as a banking and finance partner for 12 years for both firms.
In addition, while in London, Stuart spent six months as an in-house transactional lawyer in working for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in relation to major infrastructure loans into eastern Europe.
Accordingly, Stuart brings extensive senior private practice and in-house experience across 3 legal jurisdictions to his position as general counsel to Solovey.
George Mermelstein
Head of Development & Operations
Expand ProfileGeorge is an experienced Development and Project Manager having worked extensively in the design and construction arena with more than 18 years of experience collectively as an Architect, Builder, Client Side Project Manager and most recently as our internal Development Manager and Head of Development for the business since early 2020.
Prior to joining Solovey, George was a well regarded Client Side Project Manager for over 7 years with an experienced and well-regarded national project management consultancy. Responsible for managing various large-scale portfolios for valued clients in both the Public and Private sectors across multiple States nationally.
A broad range of experience ranging from being consulted by tier-one listed developers on large-scale master planning projects and other private developers regarding the development of various greenfield Sites across the state to significant civic and public projects for the Victorian Government has brought a multifaceted capability to the business.
George is an able and dedicated leader capable of the delivery of critical projects under his management and leadership.
Alex Zaikin
Head of Investor Services

Considered a thought leader in his field, Alex believes that the key to building strong investor relationships is through knowledge, hard work and astute communication with stakeholders.
Alex began his career as an institutional banker, holding various and diverse roles at ANZ Global Markets including as a Foreign Exchange Hedging Dealer. At ANZ, Alex was responsible for the development and implementation of currency hedging strategies for corporate and SME clients. In 2011, Alex founded and continues to manage a successful financial services firm specialising in complex credit solutions for construction and development finance.
Bassim Girgis
Head of (Civil and Infrastructure) Engineering
Expand ProfileBassim is an experienced Civil Engineer with a career spanning over 28 years focused on the coordination and management of delivering urban development and civil infrastructure projects.
Bassim spent the first 13 years of his career in Local Government where he managed the investigation, design and delivery of major infrastructure projects. He then moved to the private engineering sector as a project engineer, where he has spent the past 15 years coordinating the delivery of major urban development projects and achieving excellent outcomes for his clients.
In addition, Bassim has also spent the past 20 years actively undertaking numerous road safety audits on major infrastructure projects such as the Westgate Freeway Tunnel and major highways throughout Victoria as a prequalified Senior Road Safety Auditor with VicRoads.
David Jaffe
Head of Accounts & Administration

Project Coordinator (Civil and Infrastructure) Engineering

Cory Li
Construction Manager

With over 12 years of experience spanning across both public and private sectors, including a recent tenure on a significant ‘Tier 1’ road and infrastructure highway project with CPB John Holland, Cory is well-equipped to excel with providing the management and control we require within this new role.
In his capacity as Construction Manager, Cory will oversee project delivery and management across various sites within our organisation. We eagerly anticipate collaborating with him to achieve optimal results and outcomes.
Sharon Shafer
Marketing Manager

She has a Bachelor of Planning and Design from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Architecture from UCLA and a PhD in Architecture from the University of Melbourne. Her Doctoral thesis focused on the development of high-rise housing in Australia. In her pursuit of continuous learning and professional development, Sharon has recently earned a Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design from Swinburne University of Technology.
Sharon’s professional journey is diverse, with experiences in architecture, urban development, and graphic design departments at various architecture and development firms. Sharon’s expertise includes planning architectural buildings, urban developments, interior design, and marketing. However, her deep passion for graphic design has led her to the Marketing position at Solovey. The diversity of Sharon’s education and experience has equipped her with a broad skill set and insightful perspective on marketing architectural and urban planning developments.
